About this course

Mental health conditions are multi-layered, involving biological, psychological, emotional and social factors, yet many of our current systems lean heavily on biochemical intervention at the expense of emotional regulation skills.

While integrative therapies often help to balance biochemical factors, hormones and enzyme function relating to gene SNPs, there is growing evidence that emotional regulation strategies, particularly those involving the body, self-reflection and self-compassion, can significantly improve mental health outcomes.

Dr Sally Price trained in standard medicine before moving into functional and integrative medicine, drawing on more than 35 years of clinical experience and over 25 years working specifically to find and treat the root cause of illness. Over that time she has come to see emotional regulation, rather than neurotransmitter manipulation alone, as central to lasting mental health outcomes.

In this presentation Sally explores the difference between mental health and emotional health, and offers a practical, in-clinic approach to identifying and processing stuck emotions such as anger, sadness and fear. She shares simple daily practices, including three-minute emotional detox routines and self-compassion exercises, that you can teach your patients to help regulate their nervous system and build lasting resilience.

Your Presenter

Dr Sally Price MBBS, FACNEM, FASLM

Dr Sally Price is an experienced medical practitioner, educator and mentor with more than 35 years of clinical experience, including over 25 years in functional and integrative medicine. Her career has spanned emergency medicine, obstetrics, rural and remote healthcare, and general practice across Australia, providing her with a broad understanding of both acute and chronic health conditions.

Throughout her career, Dr Price has focused on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of illness rather than simply managing symptoms. She has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in nutritional and environmental medicine, lifestyle medicine, Ayurveda, microbiome science, DNA and gene SNP analysis, and Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, integrating these disciplines into a practical, patient-centred approach to health.

Over the past decade, Dr Price has increasingly devoted her work to practitioner education, coaching and mentoring. She develops educational programmes and resources that translate emerging evidence into practical clinical strategies, helping healthcare practitioners deliver more comprehensive and effective patient care.

In this presentation, Dr Price explores the relationship between emotional regulation and mental wellbeing, examining how emotional awareness, nervous system regulation and practical self-management strategies can complement conventional approaches to mental health. Drawing on decades of clinical experience, she provides clinicians with practical tools that can be incorporated into everyday practice to help patients build resilience, improve emotional literacy and support long-term wellbeing.
